About us

Thespian societies are nationwide organizations sponsored by the International Thespian Society and the Educational Theatre Association with the goal of motivating and honoring students who participate in their school’s performing arts programs.  At Simmons, the Thespian Society will recognize those students who have exemplified outstanding achievement in performing arts while at Simmons Middle School.

How to become a member

In order for a student to be eligible for induction into the honor society, they must achieve the following:

  • 10 points based on the point system set out by the International Thespian Society.  You may view the point system below

  •  Points are cumulative, but must be awarded during the student’s middle school years.

  • 5 of the 10 points required for induction must be earned from performances sponsored by Simmons Middle School.

All students who feel that they meet these requirements should stop by Mrs. Kincaid’s room to pick up an eligibility verification form.  Once your child’s form is received, their points will be verified.  If all points are accepted, the student will receive a formal invitation for induction into the honor society.  The cost of induction is a ONE TIME fee of $25 that will purchase their membership from the International Thespian Society and their t-shirt.

Upon induction, students will receive a membership card to the International Thespian Society, a certificate, and a Thespian Society pen.  This honor will remain with the student until they graduate Simmons, as long as they maintain a minimum of 4 points added per year after induction.

Becoming a member of the Junior Thespian Society is an honor that will help your child obtain membership to the Thespian Society in high school.  It is also an excellent addition to any audition form or college application, as it will show a long term commitment to the fine arts.
