SCIENCE CLUB
The Simmons Science Club is offered for sixth graders who are curious about the world around them.
Students work together in groups to do Science outside the classroom. Activities range from creating a spy parachute to land on a target, to real life problems of creating homes for penguins. At Halloween, we had fun measuring the amount of water that evaporated with dry ice, as well as having fun with Skittles. Our STEM activities provide a great experience for students who enjoy working with others and learning more about Science!

SCHOOL PLAYS
Simmons theatre presents two full length plays each year. In the fall there is always a musical and there will be a non-musical play in the spring. ALL grades are encouraged to audition for the plays. Simmons theatre is an award winning, nationally acclaimed performance program that will provide an amazing experience full of life-long memories.
Previous musical performances include Music Man Jr, Seussical Jr, and Hairspray Jr. We also performed Once On This Island Jr at the Alabama State Thespian Festival and later at the National Thespian Festival. The SMS Theatre Department is also the founder of TNT (Troupe N a Trunk) Theatre; an outreach program that brings exemplary theatrical experiences to young people in our area free of charge. Previous TNT credits include: Aladdin, Fairy Tales, Hansel and Gretel, Dear Edwina Jr, and The Jack Tales.
Our plays boast casts that span all three grades, making them the largest extracurricular activity offered schoolwide. Auditions for the musical are only two weeks after the start of school, so watch for them! And don't worry, no experience or preparation is required. Just show up and we will take it from there!
