Sunshine Program
Hello and Welcome to the Sunshine Rooms!
The Sunshine Rooms are for middle school students with special needs. The room has 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are working towards the Alabama Alternate Assessment (Extended Standards). The Sunshine Rooms are most importantly focused on individualized education so that each student can enhance their academics and functional skills for the future. Most students in the Sunshine Rooms participate in the general education setting for PE, elective, and lunch. There are some students who will also participate in the general education setting for Science and Social Studies depending on their exceptionalities. Below are some skills and standards the students in the Sunshine Room work towards.
The Sunshine Rooms also participate in many fun activities and field trips throughout the school year such as, Special Olympics, Halloween Dance, Valentineās Dance, Baronās games, movie theater, The Birmingham Zoo, and grade level field trips.
